Jaclyn Steele:

Hello, and happy Wednesday to you. This is self worth with Jaclyn Steele. This is episode 127. And the subject matter today on the theme of abundance, which is the theme for August. Today we're going to talk about how to have an abundant day, every day. And I'm going to do something I haven't done or share something I haven't done in a while, which is pull an Oracle Card before recording. And today, I pulled a card from the sacred Destiny Oracle deck by Denise Lin. And you guys this is it's always the message that I need to hear. And I'm thinking it's also going to be the message that you need to hear. I pulled the card diligence. And here's what it has to say. Fallow field. Traditionally, fields were left fallow and farmed for extended periods of time to allow the soil to recover and rebalance its nutrients to break diseases and pest cycles, and to provide a haven for wildlife. Letting fields lie fallow meant that the subsequent crops were much healthier and more vibrant. Engaging in this time honored process takes patience and diligence, but the results are worth the weight. Then it continues to say the sacred landscape wants you to know there are times in life to step forward and take risks. But there are other times to be patient. Step carefully and slowly. And know that the benefits you will gain in the future will be worth it. Be attentive, meticulous and persistent. Use this time to plan for action steps in the future. Be diligent and consistent at each step as you move forward. By doing so you will harvest remarkable results in the years ahead. This is not the time for instant gratification. Your diligence will pay off in the future tenfold. This is the time for deliberate organization, clean house clear clutter out of your life. Be thoughtful about how you spend your time, and be discerning when choosing with whom you spend it. Clear out relationships that do not support you. And as you will see, in this episode, this concept of the fallow field is absolutely pivotal. Ah, so let's begin. Before I get into the contents of this episode, I do want to lay some ground rules. And by ground rules, I mean, one ground rule. And that is that we are all working with the assumption that we all have the same 24 hours in a day, you may have more on your plate than someone else or vice versa. But the bottom line is, we all have 24 hours. And how we use them is our choice. You have autonomy over your life. And if you do not, and you live in a free country like the United States, then it's time to take back your life. I highly recommend and I've recommended this book in this podcast already. But I highly recommend John Eldridge, his book, take back your life for tips on how to do this. If you feel like it's your life running you instead of you running your life. And I always want to be kind with you guys. I want to err on the side of kindness I want to err on the side of being gentle. Because I'm not one that responds to people yelling at me. But this fact is a big deal. And if we own it, it has the power to change how we approach our life. Because you get to choose how you approach your life. You get to choose how you spend your time, you get to choose the mindset you use daily. Knowing this and applying it is foundational. It makes you the driver instead of the passenger. It makes you the Vic door instead of the victim. Okay, so we all have the same 24 hours in a day. The question now is how do we make those 24 hours, the most abundant possible. This is a practice. And it's a practice that must be done daily. And it's a choice and it's a choice that must be made daily. And it starts when you wake up. I've been doing something new lately when I wake up and it comes from a YouTube video that I was watching by Sadhguru And he talks about how this morning practice will wake your whole body up. And by golly, my friends, it really does. And here's what it is while still laying down, you rub your hands vigorously together. And then place your fingertips over your eyelids and hold him there. He explained it more eloquently than I will. But essentially, this wakes up all your nerve endings and organs. And I noticed on the first day that I did this, I immediately felt my body served with energy, and I felt my stomach waking up like my digestion was waking up, it's wild. So rub your hands vigorously together, place your fingertips over eyelids and hold them there for a little bit. Then you roll over to your right side and rise. I am so loving this super simple morning practice. Because it feels like I'm immediately getting my day started on the right foot, I'm waking my body up, I'm honoring it, I'm taking a few moments to just return back into my body after sleep. And this maybe takes 15 seconds, 30 seconds. Then, to bring abundance into your day, let's talk about your morning and how you are approaching your morning. This applies to me too. Are you running it? Or is it running you? If you have kids, it might be a mixture of both. My hand is up, I get it. However, whether it's before my son wakes up, or when he goes down for his first nap or when the nanny arrives, I meditate. I write my daily affirmations and five things I'm grateful for in my journal. And I read for a little bit. This helps me get my head on straight. And y'all I'm telling you this right now. But this morning, I woke up and I had to immediately take my dog to the groomer. And then by the time I got home and my son situated and fed the groomer called me to tell me my dog was ready. And I have to get this podcast to Terry, my podcast editor. And so this is one of those rare mornings that I didn't do those things except for the rubbing my hands vigorously together and putting my fingertips over my eyelids, and I feel it, I feel a little discombobulated. I feel like I have enough juice in the tank from doing this for so long. And being so consistent with with my morning ritual that I you know, I won't be thrown off all day. But I don't feel as grounded as I normally do. And I don't like that feeling. I like to feel like I have my head on straight. And when I don't do it, like I just mentioned, I feel like I'm reacting all day long instead of being present and proactive. And that's what we want to get away from. We don't want to be reacting to our day all day. If we want to bring in abundance to our day, presence to our day. We have to be intentional, and you deserve this time. It can be five minutes, but we must calibrate every single morning. It's like what your iPhone does in the night. When you put it on the charger, you need to re fuel every single morning. Okay, we all have different schedules and jobs and things to consider. And I so get that. But here are a few ways that I personally bring abundance back into my every single day. And while abundance is very often correlated to money, which I think is a great thing. I also am talking about abundance when it comes to the way that you treat yourself. And it can be as simple as a breath or three deep breaths, allowing yourself a moment to pause to transition to be. Another thing that I love to do pretty much daily is make myself a special drink. I will make a beautiful cup of tea i love i or Vedic teas. And I'll put some raw honey in there and the ritual of letting that loose leaf tea steep in the water and smelling it and putting a little honey in there and then going back to work. Feels like I've given myself a little treat. It feels like I'm honoring my time. It feels like I'm making the mundane a little bit more special because I have this beautiful cup of tea. I also love to make homemade lattes. So Sometimes I use coffee sometimes I use green tea mixture. Sometimes I use another like herbal mixture, but I just got a nut milk maker called a nutter, which I love the name, it's an UTR. And it's amazing. It makes homemade nut milks, and oat milk. I'm not an affiliate for them, I just really, really like it because you have this like fresh, beautiful, delicious milk that has zero preservatives in it. And then you mix in something beautiful, like freshly brewed coffee, or, like I said, a green tea mixture, whatever it is, again, taking that five minutes or 10 minutes to make yourself something beautiful. It brings an air of sacredness to whatever you're doing like your time matters. And yeah, you can go get all the taskers done, and hammer them out. Or you can take five to 10 minutes, do something really nice for yourself. And then enjoy the process of hammering out all the things you need to hammer out a little bit more. Another thing I like to do is play with crystals. So I have crystals on my desk, I live near Sedona, which is a mecca for all things spiritual, and there are so many gorgeous crystal shops there. And I think it's so fun, whether you believe in it or not. But I believe that crystals carry energy, they're from the earth and they carry frequency. I love looking at crystals, I love holding them. Yesterday when I went to hot yoga, I brought a crystal with me and put it at the top of my mat while I was practicing. And it's fun, especially when you look into the powers of these crystals like based on what they are thinking about that and holding it near you. So if you are wanting a particular feeling or wanting to elicit a particular feeling, have a crystal around you, that brings that feeling. And not only does it the crystal carry energy, but what you focus on your energy goes to. And so if you have that little beautiful reminder with you, you're bringing intention, you are bringing attention to whatever that feeling is that you are wanting to manifest. So it helps to manifest things faster too because you're more focused. Another thing I love to do that feels so abundant and like such a treat is using aromatherapy. I love essential oils, high quality essential oils, guys not not stuff that has additives or preservatives or any kind of chemicals in it, no added fragrances. But I love aromatherapy can be as simple as lavender or eucalyptus. But a lot of the time before I get into the shower, I will take some eucalyptus oil and just sprinkle it in the shower. And then when you get in the shower, it's this burst of this incredible smell. And it wakes up your senses our sense of smell is so powerful. And adding that into my day again just feels like a small honoring of my body and honoring of my time. I also have essential oil rollers in like every room of my house. So if I'm feeling stressed, I'll put on an oil and just breathe for a minute. If I'm feeling happy, I'll put on an oil. I also have diffusers all over my house. And so almost every day, I'll fill them with whatever oil I'm drawn to, and just diffuse that. And it creates this beautiful aroma in your house. I am such an olfactory kind of gal like I love, love the ability to be able to smell. And so that has been such a big part of my daily practice for so long that it's just second nature. I have rollers in my purse to oil rollers in my purse. So if I'm out and about and I'm feeling whatever kind of way I can just take a moment breathe in something beautiful and again, it brings me back into the present makes me feel like I'm alive and I'm in my body and I'm honoring myself this episode of self discovery is supported by living libations I was turned on to this company after my Hashimotos diagnosis. I've always always loved clean beauty products but living libations is clean on another level. I'll explain a little bit about why their primary Ingres Beans are plant oils and plant oils are botanical miracles. When oils are skillfully combined, the mosaic effect of 1000s of plant compounds burst forth with an intelligence and a life force that defines every single living libations creation. This not only makes their products extremely effective, and I can attest to that because the first night I started using them, I noticed a difference the next morning one freaking night, but it also makes these products smell amazing like heaven. In addition, living libations products are cruelty free, they're Fairtrade and almost all the products are raw, gluten free, and vegan. I cannot say enough about this incredible company. And now back to the episode. Next thing, taking time to read y'all I could go on and on and on and on about this. It's become a pop culture thing to say people don't read anymore. How many bookstores have closed. And this is, in my opinion, a tragedy. And even more than that. It's dangerous because we learn through reading. If we do not read if we do not have history, if we do not have chronicles of history, we're never going to be able to learn from what has happened in the past. But also, there's so much that we can learn about in the present. There's so much that we can learn about and preparing for our futures. And reading daily. Daily for me is a habit that I have partaken in, I mean most of my life. And especially since I was like 15 or 16 years old. It has made me I mean, honestly, that's the reason I'm able to do this podcast. That's the reason I have the confidence to do this podcast. I've studied. I've taken time to learn to chew on things to put them into practice. Certainly life has taught me so much so so much. But also, so much of what I've learned, has been through reading and taking the time to absorb new concepts and new ideas. Not only is this a great like transition time and time to just calm down. But it is also an honoring of your mind. It's feeding your mind. It's challenging your thinking it's making you think it is absolutely part of bringing in abundance to your day. Another way to bring in abundance, spending time in nature. Right now it has been over 100 degrees where I live for an extended period of time and so it's a little hard to get outside and boy do I feel it. Being outside and connecting with Earth is huge. We're learning scientifically more and more about the frequencies that the Earth gives off and how healing they are. And there's something to be said for that. It's grounding. For my birthday, I asked for a P EMF mat. And essentially what it is, is it's a mat that gives off frequencies that mimic the Healing frequencies of the earth and so I'm excited to use that, and incorporate that into my daily practices too, especially because it's so hot out right now, and spending time outside is not really feasible. Next thing I love to do to bring abundance into my day is meditation. It can be one minute can be three minutes, it can be five, it can be 10, it can be 20, it can be an hour, whatever it is that you need. And honestly, you guys have heard this before, but when you don't want to do it is usually when you need it most. And if you're feeling especially antsy, I would encourage you to move your body first. Either shake your body, dance it out, do a workout, and then meditate. But Meditation allows us to hear from God. You know, they say prayer is speaking to God. And meditation is allowing the space to hear from God. And it allows us the time and space to listen to ourselves to check in what are we feeling? What do we need more of what do we need less of how do we want our day to go? How do we want our sleep to go? This is all pivotal stuff that is so important. And if we don't take the time to check in, we'll never know we'll continue running on autopilot we'll continue to be reactive instead of proactive. So meditation. Another thing I love is what John Eldridge calls the pause. And this is allowing yourself even just one minute, but a little time and space to transition. Whether that be from work to home life, or transitioning from being asleep to waking up, or transitioning from a phone call, to checking your email, or transitioning from a birthday party to being back home or whatever it is a doctor's appointment, a tough conversation. The idea is to allow yourself a moment to just breathe and be a great place to do this is in the car. When you have just a little silence and a few moments to yourself. Allow yourself a pause. Take stock, come back into your body. Think about how you're feeling and how you can honor yourself. What do you need? That's all part of the pause. It's all part of bringing abundance back into our lives. Okay, next thing is mealtimes. It is so easy, especially in the United States to rush through our meal times. We are eating on the go all the time. We're eating in our cars we're eating while we're walking. We are running through drive throughs we are eating standing up we're eating in front of the TV. I'm guilty of all of these things. But if we want to bring in abundance, Mealtimes are a very easy, easy way to do this. sit at your table or your counter, even by yourself. Sit for a moment. Don't do anything, but enjoy your food. Chew it be present with it. Wow, what a concept. Oh my gosh, we just don't do this enough. And if you feel like hmm, I'm bored. I want to enjoy this a little more. Maybe read something while you're eating. But if you can just eat and let it be simple and enjoy yourself. That brings in abundance, it allows you time to just be to let the fields be fallow. I talked about this a little bit ago, but just breathing. You know, even if you are on your way to something and you're feeling harried or anxious or whatever, allowing yourself three deep breaths and six if you can do it sick. There's some kind of like magic number to six, six deep breaths. But allowing yourself some time to breathe deeply at allows you to come back into your body. It allows you to think more clearly. It allows the stress to decrease. So breathing deeply brings abundance. Another concept that I haven't played around with much but I love this concept. Love, love, love it and I do have a happy place that I go to in my meditation so lavender field, but utilizing wonderful memories. Our memory is magical. And why couldn't you bring abundance into your day by sitting with a memory that you have that you absolutely love? Bringing it to the forefront? Don't have your mind, treasuring it, thanking God for it, allowing yourself to be swept up. And that feeling of joy or elation, or laughter, whatever it is. Utilizing wonderful memories is a great way to bring in abundance into our day, especially if you're having a hard day because you realize this is temporary, this is not forever. I've had these other wonderful moments, chances are, I'm gonna have those other wonderful moments again. We're getting down to the last couple guys movement. Movement brings abundance, honoring our bodies, and honoring your body, however, feels good. Maybe it's a walk, maybe it's a run, maybe it's yoga, maybe it's Pilates. Maybe it's jujitsu like my husband does, maybe it's CrossFit. Maybe it's mountain climbing, whatever it is. utilizing our bodies, is vital to feeling abundant, not only does it help us feel strong, which increases our self worth. But there's something that happens, you move negative feelings out, when you move your body. When we are stagnant, it's like still water, everything just kind of festers. But when we move, we're able to cleanse and allow our bodies to do what our bodies were meant to do, which is move. And so movement is such a huge catalyst for abundance huge. And then this is, again, why I love oracle cards so much, because they just, it's always the right message. Always, the last thing that I want to share with you is rest. And do something as often as possible. If you can do it every day, please do. But do something that fills you up as often as possible. The Oracle Card talked about the fallow fields, and how when the fields are not being planted. It's not that they're not doing anything, they're rejuvenating, the soil is being nutrify Hide all over again, so that the next crop will be more nutrient dense than the last. We need to allow space and time and diligence, we need to be diligent about it, which is the card to allow time to be follow. We can't be on all the time. Yet. That is how our society works. It is like go go go go go. And where is that gotten us into a state of chaos. And so many of us are disease ridden. That is because there's just too much at any given moment. We need time to be fallow to allow the nutrients to seep back into our souls and bodies. And then we can be productive again. So these things, the simple things, some of them are totally free. Actually, before I before I say this, I want to give some ideas for rest of things that might fill you up. Maybe it's time in nature, maybe it's journaling, maybe it's getting dinner with friends, maybe it's going to a happy hour, and having a glass of wine. Maybe it's going to a movie, maybe it's watching your favorite show at home, maybe it's planning a vacation, maybe it's going to a new restaurant, whatever it is that fills you up. Make space for that and be diligent about it. I know for me, planning on when I'm going to go to yoga classes fills me up. I also love going to Crystal shops, I love going to book shops, I love going to new restaurants, I love getting out and doing some of my work at a coffee shop or at a co working space. Whatever it is that injects energy into your life, whoever injects energy into your life, be diligent about making space for that and time for that. All right. So bringing abundance into your every day. This is all about making the mundane, special and sacred. You can drink a glass of water and make it something that's something that I just have to do. Or you can look at that glass, you can say wow, my body is made up of something like 70% water. And when I drink this, it is going to nourish me and hydrate me and carry nutrients to my very cells and allow me to stay alive. Do you see the difference there? It's allowing gratitude Buddha and joy and appreciation and intention into your day. We can bring a breath into each moment and realize that we are so lucky to be here to be alive. We are not just productivity machines. We are humans. We need rituals, and time and sacred moments to nourish our souls. And I beg you, please hear me right now. You cannot pour from an empty cup. Yet we push ourselves to burn out all the time without considering that our souls are tired and neglected. And we need some freaking Joy juice in our lives. Can I get an amen? We are not batteries that never run dry. We are human. And we must prioritize and be diligent and build in moments in our everyday lives that nourish us to our very core. You deserve this. You deserve this. This is the way of someone with a high level of self worth. When we are full, the way we feel and see the world is naturally more abundant. And the people around us receive a higher quality version of us. If we want to love others with the most pure, unconditional love, we must love ourselves that way. First. Have a great day everyone. Thank you for being here.
